Campfire Grace
Refined Redemption.
As a ministry kid, Mia has witnessed firsthand what it means to serve—with late nights, new ministries, and the deep joys and heartbreaks that come with leading and loving people in Jesus' name. She's met incredible leaders and seen the beauty of the Church—but she's also seen its brokenness.
Camp was once her favorite place. After year one, she counted down the days to return. But in year two, everything changed. We had stepped away from the church we’d served for a decade, and without knowing the full story, people we loved acted like we no longer existed. Mia was just nine, and the rejection crushed her. It was her first taste of real betrayal—right in a place meant to feel like home. It hit me and Micah, too.
We wrestled with the hurt. But we also remembered that ministry is messy because people are messy. Still, we’re called to keep showing up, not for perfection, but for redemption.
This year, Mia went to camp with new friends from theBridge Church. (We are so grateful for their leadership, especially in a shaky transition season. <3) She felt the Holy Spirit in a way she hadn’t before, rededicated her life to Jesus, and shared her testimony from the stage. The same girl who felt forgotten now convinced she’s chosen. That’s the refining power of God’s love.
Keep showing up. The healing often comes when you go back again.
Trust the process. God really does work all things for our good.
Be real. Honesty with others leads to healing.
Make room for the Spirit. He still speaks, fills, and moves.
Let love lead. Even when others fail, we can still reflect Jesus.
