Wounds to Wisdom
Why I Said Yes to Leading Again
Looking back over this past summer, I can see how God wove together something I could never have planned on my own. After months of prayer and wrestling with the gentle, persistent urging of the Holy Spirit, I finally said yes. Yes to leading again. Yes to creating spaces for God to move. Yes to stepping out in faith, even when I didn’t feel fully “ready.”
Trust Circles wasn’t just a new project—it became a sacred space. What started as a longing to help women lay down their masks and encounter God turned into something bigger: a place where women and young girls could grow together, be vulnerable together, and find transformation together.
The Heart Behind Trust Circles
From the very beginning, my heart was simple but clear:
To build a place of true community, not performance.
To keep prayer at the center and welcome vulnerability.
To lead people past information and into transformation.
To equip both women and girls with the kind of everyday wisdom that makes a difference in real life.
Over the weeks, I watched God confirm this calling again and again. I saw the girls I teach asking for prayer, hungry for something deeper than what the world had to offer them. And I saw the women showing up faithfully, bringing their own stories and scars into the circle.
But the most powerful confirmation came through my daughter, Mia.
A Summer I’ll Never Forget
The highlight of the summer—the part that still brings me to tears—was co-leading the final session with Mia, who is 11 years old. Watching her step into her first year of middle school with such confidence, grounded in her identity as a beloved child of God, was the greatest gift of all. She knew who she was. She knew she was loved. She was surrounded by Christian friends—both old and new—who encouraged her and reminded her of that truth.
Standing beside her as she helped lead was like watching God’s promise unfold right in front of me. It was more than just a “mother-daughter moment.” It was a glimpse of the next generation rising up, ready to live and lead with faith.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
As I reflect now, I realize that saying yes to leading again was never just about me. In fact, it was so much more about opening the door for others—for women carrying wounds, for girls learning who they are, for mothers and daughters stepping into wisdom together.
And I was reminded:
👉 Our voices matter.
👉 Our gifts make a difference.
👉 Our obedience opens doors we never imagined.
As the summer closes and the official start of fall is about a week away, I can say with full gratitude that we launched the first-ever Trust Circle—five weeks, five states, incredible women, and our (semicircle) girls joining in for powerful conversations in Proverbs. This summer circle left a mark on my heart in ways I didn’t expect. 💛
This summer changed me. It reminded me that we don’t have to lead from our wounds—we can lead from healed places, from hearts softened by grace, from lives transformed by God’s faithfulness.
And when we do? Lives change—including our own.
