Micah’s Miracle
This summer, our family experienced a miracle we’ll never forget.
A few weeks ago, Micah took a hard fall while roller-skating and fractured both the growth plate and the base of his fibula. 😝 Lee and I were away with our youth group when it happened, so my mom—who was watching the kids—understandably panicked. Doctors set his leg in a splint and warned that surgery was likely. In fact, this break… at this age… surgery was a 90-95% probability.
But Micah carried something stronger than fear into that moment—trust.
The very next week, he headed to church camp. During altar time, he stepped forward and asked for prayer, believing that God could heal his ankle. Later that night, his kids’ pastor reached out to us, sharing how Micah had approached him saying the pain was gone and he was already walking on it. The pastor celebrated Micah’s faith and even shared his own story of a miraculous healing he once experienced.
Lee and I were overwhelmed—hopeful, amazed, and also aware of the responsibility God gives parents to shepherd their children. We sent Micah a message and told him how proud we were of his courage to pray and believe. We reminded him that God has healed in our own family before—Lee celebrated ten years of sobriety that same week! —and that we fully believe God still works miracles. We also explained that sometimes healing is instant and sometimes it unfolds over time, so for now he should keep using his scooter and rest until the follow-up appointment. Trusting God also means trusting the wisdom He provides.
On Monday we returned to the specialist. The doctor studied the new X-ray, paused, and then said the words that made the room spin with joy:
“Wow, I can hardly believe this. It’s healed. No surgery needed.”
Micah’s face was the priceless expression of, “I told you so.”
What had been broken was completely whole.
Trust says, “God is still the Healer.”
Trust says, “The Great Physician writes the final report.”
Trust says, “What doctors see as impossible is easy for Him.”
Micah’s ankle is now a living testimony that when God calls us to pray, it’s because He already has so much more in mind than we can see. Healing isn’t just about bones knitting together—it’s about finding that child-like faith within a heart that’s been broken.
Today, we celebrate a perfectly healed ankle and an even stronger faith.
God is so good.
